YONKERS – A vehicle flipped over and ended up in the Bronx River around 7:30 a.m. Monday, stopping northbound traffic on the Bronx River Parkway, county police said.

All northbound lanes were closed for about an hour and a half. County police said the driver was standing on top of the submerged vehicle when they arrived on the scene, south of Yonkers Avenue.

A tow truck began working to remove the vehicle from the water around 8:15 a.m. Yonkers police and fire departments also responded to the scene.

All lanes were reopened around 8:50 a.m.

A Jeep was hauled out of the Bronx River on Monday morning after the driver lost control on the northbound side of the Bronx River Parkway and went over the guardrail near the Yonkers Avenue exit in Yonkers.
