Former Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin must report to prison by Feb. 29 after undergoing successful surgery on Tuesday, according to federal prosecutors.

Jasmin's planned surgery twice delayed her scheduled surrender on her conviction for mail fraud and extortion. She was accused of selling her vote for $5,000 cash and a 50 percent interest in a FBI-fabricated community center/catering hall outside the village municipal complex on Route 45.

She was convicted by a judge in April conviction of taking kickbacks to push through the facility, which was proposed by an FBI undercover witness Mark Moses Stern of Monsey. Stern faces prison time himself for an unrelated $126 million fraud involving construction of 11 shopping malls.

Jasmin's lawyers had asked that she remain free on bail as she appeals her conviction, something the U.S. Attorney's Office opposed and McMahon rejected last week.

Judge Colleen McMahon agreed to Jasmin's new surrender date, according to a letter filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office on Wednesday.
