NEW CITY A help wanted ad seeking "no haitians" posted in a local Pennysaver has caused an outrage on social media.

"Laid back nurse, no haitians, must have strong respiratory mngt," the typo-ridden ad in the Oct. 15 issue of the New City Pennysaver reads.

The ad was allegedly taken out by Interim Healthcare Inc., a national franchise that provides in-home care for a nursing position in West Haverstraw.

Facebook users flagged the ad within a few days.

"This is wrong and this company needs to be punished to the fullest extent of the law!" wrote Tracie McLee.

Now it's getting blasted beyond social media, with at least one Rockland County lawmaker calling for an investigation by state Department of Labor and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office.

"I am outraged at this blatant form of employment discrimination," Sen. David Carlucci, D-Clarkstown, said in a statement. "This company should be ashamed of itself, and Pennysaver should strongly reconsider running any job postings from Interim Healthcare in future publications."

Interim, an in-home nursing provider, issued a statement on its Facebook page saying the ad is "totally unacceptable and is offensive to us."

It said a review would be done to look at what happened and make sure that it didn't happen again.
