Four years have passed since Edgemont native Lauren Spierer disappeared in Indiana.

Her parents used the anniversary Wednesday to renew calls for information on what happened to their daughter early on June 3, 2011, the last time she was reportedly seen alive.

"She had everything to live for. Someone took a life full of promise away from our daughter," her mother, Charlene, wrote on Facebook. "That person continues to breathe the same air Lauren should be breathing. Living their life, seemingly as if they have no responsibility for Lauren's disappearance. I trust that somehow, some day, someone will be held accountable."

No one has been charged in the 20-year-old Indiana University student's disappearance.

Police also have yet to make any connection between the Spierer case and a man charged with killing another Indiana University student in April.

Hannah Wilson, 22, disappeared after drinking in the same bar where Spierer had spent time hours before she vanished. Wilson's body was found the next day, not far from campus.

Daniel E. Messel, 49, is charged in Wilson's death.

The arrest of a suspect in a case so similar gave hope to Spierer's family that the mystery would be solved.

"I don't believe a man who has been charged with the murder of a college student could ever be eliminated as a suspect in such a similar (prior) case," Indiana state police Sgt. Curt Durnil said Wednesday. "However, at this time there is no known connection between Messel and Lauren Spierer."

Her family said they will never give up their search.

"Someone knows where Lauren is and what happened on June 3, 2011," her mother wrote. "Please contact us with any information pertaining to Lauren's disappearance."

Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington, Indiana, police at 812-339-4477
