A Connecticut man was arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from Sears at the Jefferson Valley Mall, police said.

Yorktown police arrested Shilove Basquiat of Bridgeport on Friday night and charged him with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Between February and May, Basquiat, 32, allegedly stole $17,203.51 from the store at 600 Lee Blvd. by creating fake merchandise returns and removing cash from the register, police said.

Basquiat was arraigned in Yorktown Town Court on Saturday and released on $7,500 cash bail, police said. He is due back in court on Tuesday.
