Third suspect arrested in Mt. Kisco slaying

A third man has been arrested in the beating death of a day laborer whose body was found in the woods in Mount Kisco, police said.

Mario Coronado-Depaz was arrested in Mount Kisco at 6 p.m. Friday, Westchester County police said. He was expected to be arraigned Friday night on a charge of first-degree manslaughter in the death of Jose Sanchez, a 53-year-old homeless man who was found near Lieto Drive on Saturday night.

Police have accused Mount Kisco residents Coronado-Depaz, 39, his half-brother, Freddy Coronado-Mendez, 34, and Milton Ventura, 35, of beating Sanchez to death after some socializing in the woods turned into an altercation.

Sanchez, a native of Honduras who had no permanent address, had been missing for about a day when his body was found by a relative. An autopsy revealed that he died of blunt force trauma.

Coronado-Mendez, a native of Guatemala who had no confirmed address but had relatives in the area, was arrested on Monday in Harrison, New Jersey. He has been deported twice and has a history of violent crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon and burglary, Westchester County police commissioner George Longworth said at a press conference Tuesday.

Coronado-Mendez is being held in the Hudson County jail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday before proceedings are held to extradite him back to New York.

Ventura was arrested Tuesday and is being held at the Westchester County jail without bail.
