OSSINING — An unidentified man found dead by a woman jogging along Route 133 Monday had been stabbed several times, police said.

The woman found the body, a white man between the ages of 40 and 60, about 6:45 p.m. in the grass alongside the state roadway near Tavano Road, police said.

They said he had no identification, but wore jeans, a shirt and sneakers and had been stabbed multiple times.

"He's still a John Doe,"  Ossining village police Sgt. Jeff Giorgio said.

Not much else is known about the victim as police continue working to identify him and the circumstances leading to his death, Giorgio said Tuesday.

Whether the body was dumped along the road remains an open question.

Police confirmed Monday night that they were investigating the death as a homicide after an autopsy by the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office found the stab wounds.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 914-941-5913.
