Moises Estevez was taken into custody Tuesday night in New City, officials said. Estevez is the latest to be arrested in a major Rockland initiative to track down men who owe back child support. Falco has said the program is one of his priorities. He has devoted a team of detectives to tracking down people wanted on nonpayment of child support and other Family Court violations.

In 2013, detectives received 128 warrants for nonpayment and have closed 110 of those cases. Estevez would make it 111. He has been wanted since Feb. 15, 2013, on a Family Court warrant and was apprehended by state police during a traffic stop after they discovered there was a warrant for his arrest, Falco said. He was to be arraigned Wednesday in Rockland Family Court.

Estevez isn't even among the county's worst offenders, Falco said. Gerald Sheridan, 59, who owes his Orangetown family $651,674, has been on the run since December 1997. Tony Moses, 32, owes $97,934 to his Spring Valley family and Philip DeSimone, 38, owes $56,950 to his Stony Point family.
