Arrest made in Mount Vernon barbershop shooting

MOUNT VERNON – A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a barbershop back in April that left a man paralyzed.

Tyrone Cox, who has no known address, was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, authorities said.

Around 9 p.m. April 9, Cox is alleged to have shot a 33-year-old New Rochelle multiple times in front of Tristan's Barber Shop at 60 Mount Vernon Ave. Earlier that day, police said, the victim had tried to settle a dispute between Cox and another man. Cox allegedly left the scene before returning to shoot him.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a shooting outside a Mount Vernon barbershop in April.

The victim, who sustained injuries to the legs and lower abdomen, remains paralyzed from the waist down, according to authorities.

Police said they were able to make an arrest despite little cooperation from witnesses or barbershop staff.

Cox was arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court on Monday.
