Yonkers baseball star Mike Nolan remains critical

Yonkers star baseball player Mike Nolan remains in critical condition Saturday morning, a day after he was shot in the head and torso by an unknown gunman in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant.
Nolan underwent surgery early Saturday, according to his brother Nick.
"He's doing better," he said.
Yonkers Detective Lt. Patrick McCormick said there have been no arrests in the shooting.
Investigators are continuing to go through clues, including videos from the scene as well as physical evidence from the parking lot of the Burger King at 826 Central Ave, where Nolan was shot just after 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Nolan, 23, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where family and friends are gathered.
His mother, Donna, posted a message on her Facebook page thanking supporters.
"You can never imagine how much my family and I appreciate it," she wrote. "I am asking all please keep Michael in your prayers and help bring the person or persons who did this to the Yonkers police."
Earlier dispute may have prompted shooting
Police are asking witnesses to contact them by calling 914-377-7724.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano was at the hospital Friday evening.
"I visited Mike’s hospital bedside and sadly witnessed a bright young man fighting for his life," the mayor said in a statement. "I ask our Yonkers family to pray for one of our own and his family during this difficult time.”
Nolan, a graduate of Saunders Trades and Technical High School, earned fame as a left-handed pitcher. He played for Oklahoma City University and was selected in the 18th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft (552nd overall) by the Oakland Athletics.
Most recently, he was pitching for the minor league Arizona Athletics, but has been on the restricted list since June 2014.
Yonkers investigators said he was getting into a black Mercedes after buying food at Burger King when a car — possibly a white or yellow Honda — drove by and someone pointed a gun out the window and fired.
Investigators do not know if Nolan was the intended target. They think the shooting might have been related to a dispute Wednesday evening over a drag race.
