MOUNT KISCO – Mount Kisco detectives charged a 36-year-old village man with raping a 4-year-old girl last month after DNA results linked him to the crime, police said Monday.

Sabino Serech

Sabino Serech, 36, was arrested about 7:15 p.m. Friday at his 9 Kiscona Road home and charged with first-degree rape.

Serech was held and arraigned Saturday before Village Justice John Donohue, who ordered him remanded to the county jail without bail.

After he arrived at the jail in Valhalla, officials suspected he was in the country illegally and contacted federal officials, who put an immigration-detainer warrant on him. He is due back in Village Court on Thursday. Information was not immediately available on his country of origin.

Mount Kisco Lt. Patrick O'Reilly said in a release that village police were made aware of the alleged crime the day it happened and have been investigating since. Detectives gathered evidence at the scene and submitted it to the county Department of Laboratories and Research.

The results came back Friday, and Serech was arrested by Detectives Joseph Donza and Tony Correira in an investigation headed by Detective Sgt. Joseph Reitter, O'Reilly said.

Members of the District Attorney's Special Prosecution Unit assisted in the investigation, which also involved Child Protective Services.

Police declined to say how Serech came to have contact with the girl or whether Serech and she were related in any way.
