Small plane in swamp near Danbury Airport

The pilot of a small plane stands outside after crashing it into a swamp near the Danbury Municipal Airport in Connecticut.

DANBURY, Conn – . Danbury officials say a man escaped serious injury when his small plane went into a swamp after missing the runway at Danbury Municipal Airport.

Danbury Fire Department spokesman Steven Rogers tells the Danbury News-Times the plane crashed near Foley's Pump Station on Miry Brook Road.

The pilot was the only person aboard the 1984 Beechcraft Bonanza.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton tweeted a picture of the plane resting upright in shallow water near Runway 35. The mayor said in a tweet the pilot appeared to be all right.

Danbury fire and emergency medical services responded, along with a boat, at around 7:15 Thursday evening.
