White Plains man gets prison time for stabbing girlfriend

White Plains resident Bairon Farez Llanos was sentenced to 30 years in state prison for stabbing his girlfriend and her son.

WHITE PLAINS - A White Plains man was sentenced to 30 years in state prison for stabbing his girlfriend several times in July, Acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty announced on Friday.

The incident dates back to a domestic fight that began at 3:45 a.m. on July 19. Bairon Farez Llanos, 38, was outside his girlfriend's home when he grabbed her by both of her ears until they started to bleed and then stabbed her with a kitchen knife, according to the district attorney.

She suffered from stab wounds to her neck and back shoulder blade as well as a lacerated ear, lacerated thyroid gland and a shredded internal jugular vein.

McCarty said the woman's son intervened to protect his mother. Llanos got on top of him and tried to stab him in the heart, but he was able to deflect the knife to limit the damage to a laceration on his chest.

The woman was rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where emergency surgery saved her life. Greenburgh police made the arrest.

A July 27 jury trial found Llanos guilty of two counts of second-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault, one count of first-degree attempted assault, all felonies, as well as two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanors.

After sentencing, he

was remanded into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections.
