YONKERS - About 60 firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in a residential section of Yonkers Thursday evening.

The fire started on the outside of a vacant building at 100 Clinton St. shortly before 5 p.m. and spread to the roof and jumped to the upper floor and roof of 102 Clinton St., Deputy Fire Chief Joseph DeLasho said.

Yonkers firefighters battled a three-alarm fire on Clinton Street Thursday evening.

The fire was declared under control in about 90 minutes, DeLasho said.

Six firefighters suffered minor injuries, and a family of six, who was living in 102 Clinton St., was displaced.

Carolyn Sherwin, a spokesperson for the Red Cross, said volunteers were on scene helping the displaced family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious, DeLasho said.
