Yonkers' Nepperhan center to celebrate 75 years
The dinner commemorating the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Castle Royale hall will include a celebrity appearance by Sekou Laidlow, who has a recurring role in VH1's new series "The Breaks."
The Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers will celebrate its 75th anniversary Jan. 16.
The dinner commemorating the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Castle Royale hall will include a celebrity appearance by master of ceremonies Sekou Laidlow, who has a recurring role in VH1's new hip-hop series "The Breaks," which starts in February. Laidlow currently plays the lead in "A Doll's House" at the Huntington Theater in Boston until Feb. 5.
The keynote speaker will be the Rev. David G. Evans of Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, New Jersey.
The Nepperhan Community Center operates out of a city-owned building at 342 Warburton Ave. and it is dedicated to “empowering children and families” and services over 30,000 children and families with its programs, ranging from education to emergency services.
Its mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children of all ages are taught life skills.
