Pair caught with cocaine, fireworks, counterfeit cash on I-287: Cops

Two New York City residents face charges in Harrison.

HARRISON - State police said a speeding stop left them with a hefty haul of contraband on Monday.

Police said they found cocaine, counterfeit money and fireworks after pulling over a car on Interstate 287 in Harrison. Two New York City residents, Jamar Johnson and Arnisha Chery, are facing felony charges.

Jamar Johnson, 29, of New York City was arrested on Interstate 287 in Harrison on July 24, 2017, and charged with possessing cocaine and counterfeit money.

Troopers stopped the car as it traveled east at 7:27 p.m. Monday. Police said that, while interviewing Johnson, who was driving, they found probable cause to search the car, Johnson and Chery.

Johnson, 29, and Chery, 21, are accused of having 2.9 grams of cocaine, 2.4 grams of marijuana, a $100 counterfeit bill and illegal fireworks. They were arrested and arraigned Tuesday in Harrison Town Court, where they are due back on Aug. 1.

Arnisha Chery, 21, of New York City was arrested on Interstate 287 in Harrison on July 24, 2017, and charged with possessing cocaine and counterfeit money.

Johnson, a resident of the Bronx, faces felony charges of first-degree forgery and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor counts of false personation and unlawfully possessing or selling noxious matter. He also faces violations of unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of fireworks.

Chery, from Manhattan, was charged with felony counts of first-degree forgery and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanor count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration. She also faces violations of unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of fireworks.

Johnson and Chery are both being held at the Westchester County jail on $2,500 bail.
