Toddler killed by car in Monsey on Sunday

MONSEY - A 14-month old boy was struck and killed by a car Sunday afternoon, Ramapo Police said.

The accident occurred at 5 p.m. on Johanna Lane, when a taxi cab backing out of a driveway struck the child, police said.

The boy was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the driver of the 2015 Toyota Prius, a 41-year-old Monsey resident, had picked up a fare at the home where the boy lived. The driver remained on scene, police said.

Police said they were investigating and no charges or tickets had been issued as of Sunday night.

Last month, a 3-month-old died during a road rage incident after a man hit a mother and her three kids in Spring Valley.
