Ossining man faces felony drug charges
CANAAN, N.Y. – An Ossining man is one of three facing criminal charges after a state trooper stopped their car for speeding, smelled marijuana and uncovered a plethora of illegal drugs.
Austin H. Fry, 25, was a passenger in the car when troopers found him with cocaine, MDMA — also known as ecstasy or Molly — LSD, and marijuana, state police said.
Fry was charged with two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Two others, Gregg S. Sauber, the driver, and Gregory A. Barrera of California, also were arrested during the 5:10 p.m. traffic stop Sunday on Route 295, police said.
Sauber, 28, of Brooklyn, was found with cocaine and later released after posting bail. He faces a charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance when he appears in Canaan Town Court on Sept. 2.
Barrera was found with marijuana and faces a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana, police said. He was released without bail and also is to appear in Canaan Town Court on Sept. 2.
Fry was arraigned Sunday in Canaan Town Court, where he was ordered held in the Columbia County jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is to return to court at a later date.
There was no answer at Fry's family home on Tuesday evening.
Canaan, a town in Columbia County, is about 35 miles southeast of Albany.
